Frequently asked questions

Common questions about billing, quotas, and data sourcing.

What counts as one request?+

Each call to /v1/latest or /v1/timeseries counts as one request, regardless of how many metals, currencies, or dates you include. Failed requests (4xx and 5xx) do not count against your quota.

How do you bill — USD or GBP?+

Pro is billed in USD ($9 per month) and Enterprise in GBP (£299 per month). You can switch between plans any time from the dashboard. Pro subscribers can upgrade to Enterprise mid-cycle and are charged the prorated difference.

Can I cancel any time?+

Yes. Cancel from the dashboard at any time. We do not refund partial months, but you keep access until the end of the current billing period. Your API keys remain valid at the Free tier limits after cancellation.

What happens if I exceed my monthly quota?+

Requests beyond your monthly quota return 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header. We never charge overage fees — you can either upgrade your plan or wait for the monthly reset on the first of each month.

Is there a free trial of the paid plans?+

There is no formal trial, but the Free plan (1,000 requests per month) is enough to ship a working prototype. Upgrade to Pro only when you are ready for production traffic.

Do you offer custom plans?+

Enterprise includes a custom SLA and a dedicated support contact. For requirements above 500,000 requests per month, or for on-prem / VPC deployments, contact security@bullionapi.dev to discuss volume pricing.

How is the price data sourced?+

Prices are aggregated from metals.dev, cached in our database, and refreshed every hour by a scheduled job. If the upstream is briefly unavailable, we return the most recent cached values with a status of "partial" rather than failing your request.

Can I use this in commercial products?+

Yes. All plans — including Free — include commercial use. No attribution required, though a link back is appreciated.
