Definition and revisions
Gold content of worldwide mine production in the calendar year, in metric tonnes. Values for 1900–26 are USGS's adoption of Ridgeway's 1929 estimates; later years are from USGS annual statistics. Mine output only: it excludes recycled gold and above-ground stocks. USGS may report, calculate or estimate values and may revise historical observations. Observations identified by USGS as estimates are marked explicitly. These are annual published statistics, not live figures.
Estimates are marked where the source identifies them. Historical values may be revised by the source; this view shows the latest stored observations, not a revision history.

These are partial market indicators, not a complete supply-and-demand balance: world figures cover mine production only, and recycling, consumption and trade figures are for the United States.
