How the estimate works

Weight × purity × the gold price per unit. One troy ounce is exactly 31.1034768 grams. Karat purity is karat ÷ 24; fineness is parts per thousand ÷ 1,000. Enter the full alloy weight: purity is applied once. A 24ct selection assumes pure gold; use fineness for a documented 999 or 999.9 alloy.

Calculations retain decimal precision through conversion and multiplication, with results rounded half-up to two decimals for display. The displayed per-gram price is rounded and is not used as an intermediate calculation.

Prices come from the same hourly cache as our public gold-price pages. Observations more than two days old are labelled old, including over market closures. Missing prices produce no estimate. Reload the page for the latest cached observations.
