The latest official general government figures for Switzerland, as stored in Bullion API’s scheduled cache. Each figure shows its own period. Cached, not live.
Each figure keeps the government scope and definition its publisher uses. Scopes, periods and definitions differ between the United States, the United Kingdom, the euro area and the EU member states, so these figures are not comparable across geographies.

| Gross debt, IMF definition, year endSwitzerland: general-government gross debt as defined by the IMF at 31 December, in millions of Swiss francs, from the Federal Finance Administration's GFS-model main aggregates (variable `fremdkapital`, "Gross debt excluding financial derivatives (debt as defined by IMF)"). The Administration describes it as total liabilities less shares and other equity, financial derivatives and employee stock options, with tradable liabilities at market value. Gross, not net, and a different measure from the Maastricht-style debt. Only years the Federal Finance Administration labels as accounts (`Rechnung`) are stored, never its forecast years, and an actual year can be revised in a later release. Provided by the Federal Finance Administration without verification of the derived series (EMBAG Art. 10(6)). | Unavailable: no cached observation | Not available | General government |
| Maastricht-style debt, year endSwitzerland: general-government gross debt "with reference to the Maastricht definition" (the Administration's workbook label) at 31 December, in millions of Swiss francs, from the Federal Finance Administration's GFS-model main aggregates (variable `maastricht_schuld`, "Maastricht debt"). The Administration describes it as cash and deposits, debt securities and loans on the liabilities side of the GFS balance sheet, valued at nominal value and not market value, and it is a different measure from the IMF-definition gross debt. Eurostat publishes no Swiss debt and Bullion API has not verified that this equals the Eurostat excessive-deficit-procedure debt, so do not treat the two as equivalent.
| Maastricht-style debt to GDP, year endSwitzerland: the Maastricht-style debt above as a percentage of nominal GDP at 31 December, as published by the Federal Finance Administration (variable `schuldenquote`, "Debt Ratio (Maastricht)"), which it defines as gross debt per the Maastricht definition over nominal GDP. The Administration publishes it as a fraction and Bullion API multiplies it by 100 to express percent, with no other change. The Administration does not document the source or vintage of the GDP series it uses.

| Net lending (+) or borrowing (-), yearSwitzerland: general-government net lending (+) or net borrowing (-) in the IMF GFSM 2014 model (revenue less expense less the net acquisition of non-financial assets) for the calendar year, in millions of Swiss francs, from the Federal Finance Administration's GFS-model main aggregates (variable `saldo`, "Net lending/borrowing"). A negative value is net borrowing (a deficit); a positive value is net lending (a surplus). It is not the national FS-model "Overall fiscal balance".
